Cattolica
The heart of Cattolica is in Piazza I Maggio, also known as Piazza delle Fontane because of its imposing central fountain.
Viale Bovio, the best-known street with all the finest shops, starts here, whilst Viale Carducci and Viale Dante, the most popular streets with tourists and the ones most associated with summer, are just a short distance away.
At the end of the seafront, on one side is the harbour with the new dock, and on the other is the Cattolica Aquarium.
Gradara
Situated not far from the sea, in a hilly landscape, it is best known for the Rocca Malatestiana and its castle, the scene of clashes between the area’s most famous families.
Gradara is also linked to one of the most famous love stories, that of Paolo and Francesca, which Dante recounted in the Divine Comedy.
San Leo
San Leo stands on an imposing rocky outcrop, at the very top of which stands the Fort. The view is truly priceless: the panorama stretches from the Marecchia valley all the way to the sea.
Don’t miss the bell tower and the cathedral either; it once housed Dante and St Francis.
Rimini
Just 20 km from Cattolica lies Rimini, a historic city rich in art and culture.
The Corso winds its way from the Arch of Augustus, lined with shops, restaurants and bars, perfect for strolls both by day and by night; there are also plenty of squares to visit, such as Piazza Tre Martiri, Piazza Cavour – where the theatre stands – and Piazza Malatesta.
Urbino
Urbino is one of the most important centres of the Italian Renaissance from an artistic point of view.
The Doge’s Palace, Raphael’s House and the Duomo are absolute must-sees.
Urbino has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. The famous painter Raffaello Sanzio had close ties to the town of Urbino.
San Marino
Perched on Mount Titano, this town is ideal for anyone looking to spend a day combining shopping with culture.
San Marino is home to the finest outlet centres in the area and shopping centres with a wide range of shops, but it is also a centre for the arts, thanks to the Palazzo Pubblico, the Three Towers and its many museums.
